The Great Cheese Rolling

At last it was time for our trip to Gloucester for the great annual Cheese Rolling event. We had two days to prepare ourselves, so Martin and I popped into Aaron and Anna's for bed and breakfast, and then we went to Camden to Cyberdog to get some shopping for the festivals we are going to his summer.

We also met up with a university friend of Martin's and his fiancee, and had lunch with them.

We arrived in Gloucester absolutely exhausted and went straight to bed after a fish and chip supper! Sunday morning arrived and we were given the grand our of Gloucester by Emma's parents. We went to the docks, the Cathedral, and my favourite place of the day.... the shop where Beatrix Potter based "The Tailor of Gloucester". It has recently been re-opened as a little gift shop and museum.

Monday arrived.....After being warned by several people that Cheese Rolling was really not the most sensible pastime known to man...... I had doubts!

Once standing on the top of Cooper's hill in Gloucester, and looking down feeling rather sick.... I seriously had doubts......

But as you all know, once I have my mind set to something, I find it very hard to go back..... I also didn't fancy the walk back down the side of the hill, as getting up there nearly killed me!!!

Lucky for Martin, Emma and I, it had been raining quite hard and the ground was very soft, so us girls decided to go down on our bums, whilst Martin tried to run and roll.

We all left to the chant of "Cheese, Cheese, Cheese.." and ended up safely at the bottom of the 20o yard hill within about 15 seconds. This may sound fast to you, but believe me, during the races the winners were going down in about 6-8 seconds!!! I also think the guy that broke him arm didn't think the ground was soft enough!!!!

2007 - A New Beginning

2007 got off to a fantastic start! Out with the old life and in with the new!!!
In fact, I meant to begin writing my new blog in January, but I have been so busy it has been very low on my priority list. It is now May, and I have so much to say, I thought I better begin before I forget it all!!

So where do I begin....?

Since deciding to take my life into my hands, and concentrate on my own happiness and well being, I have been going here, there and everywhere.

February saw the first of my new excursions with the Brazilian Festival in Belgium. A fantastic night, great dancing, fantastic music and the perfect opportunity to make some great friends.

Emma, Antony, Roberta, Steve, to name but a few........ and these are names you are going to become very familiar with!!

The "After Brazilian Party" was held the following night in Bodega's, where I met Martin. I had met him the week before, but not really spoken to him..... anyway, to cut a long story short Valentine's day came and rose arrived for me. For me!!!!! Wow! Here we are in May now, so I guess you could say that little cupids magic was definitely working this year!!!

What else.....?It was Martin's birthday in March, and I gave him something a little different.... a sky diving voucher. I have since decided that I should do it too, (now or never type thing)... so we are awaiting the phone call, as the weather needs to be just right etc......

April saw me spend a week back in England. I travelled over alone, but met up with Caroline for her son John's wedding in Reading. It was absolutely perfect and went without a hitch. Caroline and I spent the following few days at Aaron's house, seeing Kate and Lewis, and buying half of Southend high street, before returning to Lux.

So now.... to May...... Had to try and cut down on the going out and spending cash, so have been taking it a little easier..... well........ I think it is more a case of preparing for the upcoming summer. We currently have 3 trips away planned, 3 concerts to go to and of course, the Duke's Birthday is only a few weeks away.

I have never been so busy, and as people keep telling me... never been so happy! :)
